ECN part of TNO

ECN part of TNO Solar Energy is  an R&D institute comprised of a staff of over 80 scientists and engineers with a wide range of R&D activities and IP innovation for PV materials, industrial processing technologies, and cell and module design with a goal of increasing solar photovoltaic energy production worldwide.  Historically, ECN innovations have been transferred to industry in Europe and worldwide. As the PV industrial market becomes more vertically integrated, demonstration of not only cell technology but the coupled module design as well as system level performance is important for continued competitive edge in the PV industry.

In addition, ECN part of TNO is working on making solar panels even more widely applicable, for example by integrating solar power technology into building components and infrastructure and by developing energy storage technology. We do this together with the Dutch business community. The technology to produce solar cells and solar panels is an important export product of the Netherlands.
